Android ONE : A Success or Failure ?

Welcome to Techno Reviews !!!

Well, Google was always known for its Nexus lineup (now discontinued and renamed as Pixel) , Which gave developers to get stock android and faster updates at very low price !.
But the Google is then decided to let the stock android experience come at a very low price point . Yup, they thought let's make a phone, a which costs less than $150 and then comes the Google ANDROID ONE program which was like a sibling to NEXUS line up , with similar software experience and much better hardware at a price point which was not available .
The idea was a success people loved that now everyone can enjoy stock android!!
But the problem came at execution , The first set of phones to be released were supposed to be in India , by then top local manufacturers MICROMAX , KARBONN  and SPICE . The problem here was the companies were not allowed to choose their own parts as Google planned that the hardware has to be great so it laid down certain rules the companies had to follow which resulted in 3 phones with same specs (exact same !!) the phones were promised faster upgrades which not many people in India had any idea about , The reason in country in like India , the quality of phone is decided upon its cost, not the specs .

The costlier the phone the better it is supposed to be
(though this mindset is fast changing ). The companies were not allowed to put any bloatware that is actual the way these companies earn profits .So the companies were not very supportive to the device. Also ,the phones were not released into the offline market which is the majority market in India initially . This lead to the dissatisfaction of the offline market . They decided to never sell the device even if it was released into the market later . Thus phone did not reach the audience it was supposed to reach which resulted in a loss .  The companies too did not advertise the phones and took very little notice of the phones ,Google later tried to correct its mistake by making certain changes its conditions . But as far my knowledge is concerned nothing really changed . Later another phone LAVA Pixel  V1 which was dubbed as a phone from ANDROID ONE 2.0 program  which was able to sell a million phones(approx.) . Overall Android was able to sell around 3 million phones which keeping in the target of Google to reach every corner of the country is not a great number .

So I guess the phones that were supposed to rock the world with their low price and great experience were not even able to show their presence properly .

The Google's decisions are sometimes very confusing. They pulled out the very famous Nexus line up !!
Bought in the much-awaited Pixel line up let's talk about it in the coming posts !! See you soon !
